Charitable work
In 2007, Philip was a founder member of af3m, the French Myeloma Patients association whose objectives are to give information and support to patients and their families. He was also a Board Member of Myeloma Patients Europe, the international federation of associations across Europe, Israel and Turkey. He translated into French the English language patient’s guide and advised on communication strategy.
He was also a member of the consultative committee on patient care quality at the Institut Paoli-Calmettes, Marseille, one of France’s leading cancer hospitals.

Wines
As a foreigner, Philip received a rare honour as an invited wine judge at the prestigious International Salon de l’Agriculture et de l’Alimentation in Paris.

- jazz and blues including occasional piano bar playing
- sports: rugby league and union, cricket, football (Philip is a qualified referee)
- bridge and chess
